Finding Some Inspiration/ Top 5 Saturday

Trying to get stoked for the riding season to start. I have to say I thought a lot about the Sturgis trip I did last year which is why I am revisiting the pics I love from that trip. I longest ride I have done alone and I loved it truly. Nothing like knowing if shit goes down you just deal with it. Living in the moment and the only thing that matters is not getting run over and when the next gas stop is coming up.

Music For Awesomeness

Anchor Mobiles 2005 style

Almost 10 years ago now. WTF how does it go so fast. Anyways here are my two vehicles I brought from Ventura to Kansas City in 2005. Honda Chopper and my Ranchero. Drove the car out with only one breakdown. Oil filter split at the seam and puked all the oil out. Coasted to the nearest off ramp right into a service station. Figured out the issue and was back on the road in 10 minuets and a fresh oil change for the road. One of the club guys still has it so thats cool. Honda is long gone.

Redhead Bomb

It's been awhile since I talked about redheads. Really there is no need. Either you get it or you don't

Flathead Boogie Again.....

Ok so I am on motor #2 and actually the 4th I've looked at. This one should be a gem. Everything is there as well as a 3 speed w/overdrive transmission. Got some extras I can sell and I will tear it down this week end. As for the skateboarding I have gone two days in a row. Some kind of record. My legs are weak and my ankles are the same as a 93 year old womens but I still had some fun.I will go and make little goals for myself.  Like yesterday was to do a feeble grind transfer on this tiny little spine quarter pipe. It took me about 20 tries but by god I did 1. Then split.

The Dogfight Is Done/ Top 5 Saurday

Got Eric's 1977 GS550 all buttoned up this week and he came and rode it home yesterday. Over all I am super pleased with the whole thing. Rides great and handles excellent with the Firestones. So he is stoked and really that is the best part. Already got a few jobs lined up so I will be back in the shop today. As for the amazing shirts . My best bud Jay in SLC whipped these up and surprised me. So freaking funny and I will wear it proudly.

Getting Pulled Back/Top 5 Satuday

When I get bored shit gets changed up. I think that is one of my favorite parts about owning a motorbike. It is not uncommon to change a set of bars like 10+ times before  settle on one pair. So I whipped these up out of some old buckhorns and a piece of stainless. Went and rode it with them I have to say it feels real good going down the road but not so good at low speed. Styles gonna beat function and they are off to the chrome shop next week.

Top 5 Reasons To Go Ride Your Bike.

Number 1. That is what they were intended to do. Because look great sitting in your shop but they look really good on the road.

Number 2. The weather has finally broke in the Midwest and it has been really nice to get home and go for a ride. I'll take 60's all day long.

Number 3. Free Mind Free Soul. Man get out there and ride till your mind cleans itself out. Sometimes it could be 10 miles or maybe it takes 60 but if your on your cycle it doesn't matter either way,

Number 4. Clear the cobwebs out of your girl. I have been lucky this year being able to ride the bikes like once a month all winter. But usually they need some TLC in spring to get them ready for summer. Adjust valves, change oil, inspection of parts, etc etc. Love that shit.

Number 5. There is no way better to experience life then doing something that could kill you in a heartbeat. Remember that and you will ride that bike of yours that much more.

Perfect Crust....

Kinda forgot about Mark Drews old Panhead. Perfect crust and hate the pipes. Great story about the tins in the article. I'm telling you Mark has got it going on. Seriously

Weekend In Pictures......

Pretty much had a amazing weekend just in the fact the weather is starting to break. Today's high was almost 65. So what that means is get the fuck out of the house and enjoy the sun. Went out on a Daddy and Daughter date yesterday and had a blast. She really is a wonderful and fun young lady. Today was all about motorcycles go figure. Dirt bikes and I even got the Old Ironhead out for a run up to my favorite spot. Here is to everybody in the Midwest just getting a couple good hours of sun.

Two Lane Blacktop 1971

Either you love it or hate. I fucking love this movie. Go ahead and watch it.

As Of Now / Top5 Saturday

Well the weather has just kind of started to break. So below zero has now turned into 60's for highs. So the thought of getting the bikes out is always in the forefront of my head. So as of yesterday this is what both my bikes are looking like. Kinda nice to see them outside. Luckily I actually got to ride them all winter like once a month. So both are in tip top running condition. Most winters I make a short list of things that need attention so when spring comes and all summer it is just oil changes and riding. Latest thing is I built some bunnyear bars for the shovel. I liked the little apes on it but it felt like I was making a sail out of my body on the highway. I like being "in" my bike not "on" it. So some tight bars kinda pull your arms in and make the wind go around not through you. Rode it yesterday and really like them so far. Maybe one more ride before I send them off to the chrome shop. More money thrown at her. Whatever and I had some craft time so I could see my bike with a Panhead motor. So funny but man its going to happen.

Top 5 Saturday
Top 5 Things About American Graffiti

Number 1. It captured that time so perfectly that it is almost a case study. The hair, clothes, cars etc etc

Number 2. As a kid I watched it every time it was on TV. It had hot rods and kustoms, cute girls and thugs. I remember the first time I really noticed that chopped Merc the dudes are driving and was just like FUCK that car is amazing
.
Number 3.The music or soundtrack would be the right word is great. Now by my taste today its kinda cheesy but I have always liked rock and roll. They used a bunch of acts in the movie that were real bands that played old school rock and roll. Like the band in the dance scene was a real band. In the 70's there was a huge resurgence of acts playing 50's style rock and roll and rockabilly. Of course it was always a little off but I would rather hear that shit all day then disco or soft rock in the 70's. Luckily for me right about the time I was finding my own music all that shit had died. I bought a Jerry Lee Lewis Great Balls Of Fire EP and a Buddy Holly Ep at a garage sale they were my first two records I ever bought. The Buddy Holly song was because it was in the movie. Still love Buddy Holly.

Number 4. There is a scene right before Milner is gonna race Harrison Ford at the end. Milner went to his shop to uncork the headers and when he leaves the shop the car looks and sounds like a wild beast. He kinda pops the clutch and the car lurches forward kinda scary like. As a kid I dreamed that  someday I would have a fire breathing deathtrap. Still on my list of most haves. Kinda got more into kustoms but always in the back of my head is that car.

Number 5.We always want what we can't have. I think it's human nature to want things that are impossible to get. Mine would be a time machine. Can you even imagine being alive when the only thing that mattered was cruising, street racing and trying to pull some pelt. Whatever right now we are all connected in and it would be almost impossible to exist with out all our devices. I look at 1962 like a perfect example of pre-beatles, pre-vietnam, pre-government restrictions on vehicles time machine. Now go watch it and really take it in.
